How Does CNC Turning Work?

CNC turning is a precision manufacturing process that uses computer-controlled lathes to produce cylindrical parts. It starts with a CAD design, converted into machine instructions via CAM software. The workpiece is secured in a chuck and rotated at high speeds while cutting tools shape it through operations like facing, threading, and drilling. Coolant is applied to manage heat and remove debris.

Post-machining, parts may undergo finishing (e.g., sanding or polishing) and rigorous inspection to ensure dimensional accuracy. CNC turning excels in repeatability and efficiency, making it ideal for producing complex, high-quality components.
